Sashastra Seema Bal or SSB was established in 1963 by the Government of India under the Ministry of Home Affairs as one of the India’s Central Armed Police Force with the name as Special Service Bureau. Its head quarter is at New Delhi. SSB is a Border Guarding Force which comprise of many departments like department of telecom, Armour, medical, MT, clerical, general duty, intelligence, veterinary, personnel, cipher and legal department. It provide security to he people living in border areas.

Good news for candidates who seeking jobs in SSB. A new recruitment drive announced and published by SSB for Constable (GD) (Male) posts. SSB Recruitment 2012 Constable (GD) vacancies details

Name and number of vacancies: Constable (GD)-  Total 297 vacancies which is category wise distributed. 33 posts for Scheduled caste, 33 for scheduled tribe, 89 for other backward classes and 142 for General/Unreserved category.

Pay band: 5,200 - 20,200 + GP 2,000/- PM

Age limit: 18 years - 23 years as on 01st August, 2012. (Age relaxations for SC/ST/OBC will be extended as per Govt rules).

Eligibility criteria to apply for SSB Constable (GD) posts:   


Educational qualification: Candidate must have complete 10th class as on the date of commencement of recruitment i.e 10th April, 2012

Physical Standard:   

For all categories except reserved categories: Height: Minimum 165 Centimeters , Chest: 78 Centimeters Unexpanded,83 Cms. Expanded (Minimum 5 Centimeters. expansion), Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per medical standard

For the candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribe of Jammu & Kashmir State: Height: Minimum 162.5 Centimeters, Chest: 76 Centimeters. Unexpanded, 81 Centimeters. Expanded (Minimum 5 Centimeters expansion), Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per medical standard

Application fee:50/- in form of IPO or Bank Draft in favor of Accounts Officer, Frontier Hqrs. SSB, Lucknow (U.P) payable at SBI, Lucknow (U.P). SC/ST/EXSM are exempted from payment of Application Fee.
